Focus Luara Raio
Luara Raio (Brasília, 1990) is performer, dancer and choreographer of funk sapatão. She is also the artist in focus at the second edition of Pedra Dura. Born in 1990 in the capital of Brazil, Luara trained in performing arts in Brazil, Portugal and France. Their work is rooted in a sapatão, racialised and anticolonial perspective that seeks to trigger incantations and fractures in hegemonic representations of gender, race and the body. They currently live in Paris, where they collaborate with other artists and continues their authorial research into Macumba, imaginary, incorporation and performance.

Pedra Lançada
Pedra Lançada [Thrown Stone] is a performance/activation of the book-oracle Pedra y Apocalypso by Luara Raio. To launch or throw something implies there will be impact and reception. It implies vibration and reverberation as well as falling, fracturing, shattering. The title refers to the Afro-Brazilian proverb with a religious matrix that says: ‘Exú killed a bird yesterday with a stone he threw today’. We get hit and throw stones at the crossroads between dance, words, spirituality and performance.
