LittleShadow is a screening of animated films that connect cinema with dance. It will be followed by a talk and movement to stimulate a better understanding of the body and its expressive powers. We will learn how different cultures and styles use movement to show emotions and ideas. Activity aimed at school groups.

Ana Rita Barata e Pedro Sena Nunes

Pedro Sena Nunes (Lisbon, 1968) makes films and teaches filmmaking as he profoundly believes that films shape our attitudes, values and behaviour. He completed the Film Studies course at ESTC (Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema) in 1992. He co-founded Companhia Teatro Meridional, Apordoc – (Associação pelo Documentário) and Avanti.pt. He teaches and co- ordinates projects at ETIC (Escola de Tecnologias Inovação e Criação) and is also responsible for its pedagogical and creative coordination. He designs courses as well as pedagogical and artistic projects with auteur dimension. He is a member of the Associação Portuguesa de Realizadores, teacher and co-director of Vo’Arte, where he co-directs the Festival InShadow, Festival InArt and also CiM - Companhia de Dança. He has been awarded various prizes and distinctions in recognition of his photography, video and cinema.

Ana Rita Barata (Paris, 1972) studied classical and modern dance at the Conservatory as well as improvisation, awareness, body-mind centering, complex movement, contact/improvisation and video at the European Dance Development Centre in Holland. She has performed with various acclaimed choreographers such as Wim Vandekeybus, Steve Paxton and Samuel Louwick. She has also worked as choreographer and artistic director with Pedro Sena Nunes since 1994 in devising transdisciplinary projects and performances together with communities with special characteristics, especially setting up CiM – Companhia Integrada Multidisciplinar in
2007.
